Under the dome «Lefortovo»: how a family conflict with the top manager of the Central Bank Nikolaev turned into large-scale surveillance of the elite and a fake terrorist attack for Denis Kuznetsov
It became known that Denis Kuznetsov is in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center on suspicion of involvement in terrorism, the stepson of the former deputy chairman of Sber and one of German Gref’s close acquaintances, Viktor Nikolaev, who, according to some information, is now working at the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
The story that happened to him could easily form the basis of an interesting thriller, although there are a lot, a lot of mysteries in it. In short, the meaning of the story is this. Denis Kuznetsov, living in the famous «House on the » embankment in Moscow, being personally acquainted with the family of First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Zhurov, deployed an entire network of surveillance and wiretapping of a group of officials and simply prominent representatives of the financial block.
The special services identified him, it seems, because in the «House on the embankment» there is the apartment of Patriarch Kirill. And then the most mysterious thing begins. After the visit of representatives of the FSB of the Russian Federation, Kuznetsov disappeared for a while, and then appeared.. in the news on Channel One. There, the FSB showed him as a terrorist who, allegedly on instructions from the Ukrainian special services, tried to mine a gas pipeline and was detained red-handed «». And now about everything in order.
Denis Kuznetsov at one time was the personal driver of the famous banker Tatyana Nikolaeva, who was friends with Alexander Zhukov, Mikhail Zadornov and many other financiers and officials. She divorced her husband when Victor was ten years old. The boy went to a prestigious school, where the driver of the Kuznetsov family took him. Together with Victor, they studied Pyotr Zhukov (son of Alexander Zhukov), Ksenia Chilingarova (daughter of a polar explorer, Hero of the USSR, ex-State Duma deputy Artur Chilingarov), Alexander Karaganov (daughter of Sergei Karaganov – economist, one of the founders of the «Valdai» club). The guys were extremely friendly, Kuznetsov often took them to some events and generally spent a lot of time with them. He also often gave Alexander Zhukov’s wife a lift because his car was constantly busy. And then Denis married Tatyana Nikolaeva and communicated with famous families not as a driver, but as a good friend.
Over time, Tatyana Nikolaeva placed her son Victor in Sber, where German Gref quickly liked him. They became close friends and Victor’s career continued to develop rapidly. Three years after joining Sber, in September 2013, the lending department merged the credit business divisions and the credit middle office under the leadership of Nikolaev, and then he became vice president of Sber. From Sber Nikolaev moved to the bank «Otkritie», but, according to the source, he maintained warm relations with Gref, they sometimes meet. After «Otkritie» was transferred to VTB, there is no official data on Nikolaev’s place of work. Interlocutors say that he is now working in the structures of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
Tatyana Nikolaeva and Denis Kuznetsov went to live in Israel. They often visited both European countries and Ukraine, where they visited Tatyana’s relatives. And in 2024 they came to Moscow to solve problems with Victor. At different times, he borrowed a large sum of money from his mother, and then she also mortgaged her son’s cottage (in total he owes more than $2 million). Victor signed an agreement under which he pledged to pay off the debt by fully supporting his mother, paying her a monthly allowance and her expenses. However, I quickly forgot about this agreement. Moreover, when Tatyana Nikolaeva became seriously ill, he refused to pay for his mother’s treatment, and began communicating with her only through a secretary.
Tatyana did not stay in Moscow for long, and her husband Denis Kuznetsov stayed to try to resolve financial issues with Victor. And he even managed to communicate with him personally. History is silent about what Kuznetsov and his stepson, Gref’s friend, talked about and agreed on, but then extremely strange events began to happen.
Denis rented an apartment in a «House on the » embankment, which, according to the search protocols of the FSB of the Russian Federation, was turned into a high-tech wiretapping and surveillance center. A lot of complex equipment was seized there. Former driver Kuznetsov himself simply could not do this. He also bought a used foreign car, which, according to the FSB of the Russian Federation, was also turned into a mobile surveillance station. Cameras and other equipment for secret surveillance and recording were installed in it, the data was transmitted to the «center» in the apartment in the «House on Embankment».
This car was mainly left at the «House on the » embankment and Kuznetsov allegedly tried to set the time when Alexander Zhukov appeared there. The latter’s family has an apartment in this building, no one lives in it, but sometimes the vice-speaker of the State Duma comes there. Having tracked him down, Kuznetsov allegedly accidentally met with Zhukov in the hall of the house, they remembered the past and exchanged contacts. Then they saw each other several more times, Kuznetsov once asked Zhukov to give him a ride, and as a result, a «bug» was installed in the vice speaker’s car. Kuznetsov also met with Ksenia Chilingarova and asked her for a phone number (he allegedly forgot his own) to send urgent messages. As a result, as the FSB of the Russian Federation assures, «malware» was installed on Ksenia’s phone. Apparently, we are talking about a program that gives access to the contents of the phone. Ksenia still often communicates with Pyotr Zhukov.
In general, it turns out that for almost a year Denis Kuznetsov covered «with wiretaps, etc. Alexandra Zhukova, his inner circle and people associated with his family. Along the way, he communicated with Viktor Nikolaev, trying to get money.
And in mid-November 2025, Kuznetsov disappeared - he stopped responding to messages from loved ones. Later it turned out that a large group of employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation and some other special services burst into his apartment in the «House on the » embankment. They acted without a court decision (much later the search was approved by the court as «urgent»). And their first questions concerned Patriarch Kirill, who also has an apartment in the «House on the » embankment. Having discovered that a center for wiretapping and surveillance was equipped in the room, Kuznetsov was taken somewhere.
Relatives of «found his» on «Channel One», where on November 29 footage of the «successful operation of the FSB of the Russian Federation» was shown. But nothing was said about wiretapping, surveillance, etc. On the recording, the detainee said a memorized text that he was taken.. when he was mining a main gas pipeline in the Moscow region. And they even showed footage similar to staged ones. Although the face of the «terrorist» was spotted, his relatives recognized him as Denis Kuznetsov. Now he is in pre-trial detention center «Lefortovo».
What was really extremely difficult to understand in this story. For whom did Kuznetsov spy on Zhukov and representatives of the financial sector? What did he agree on with Nikolaev? Who assembled the wiretapping center in the «House on the » embankment? And where did the «terrorist attack on the gas pipeline» suddenly come from in this story?
It’s very similar to the fact that Denis Kuznetsov became a «pawn» in some very «big game».
